  • What is the tallest tower I can erect before I need to be a certified scaffolder?
    If any part of the tower is 5.0m high or over it must be erected by, or under the direct supervision of, a certified scaffolder. Remember: Height used to be measured to the working platform but now includes the highest part of the tower, eg the handrails.

  • At what height is my scaffold tower notifiable to Worksafe?
    If any part of a scaffold tower is 5.0m high or over it must be notified to Worksafe at least 24 hours before work begins.

  • What triggers the requirement for outriggers on a tower?
    For scaffolds under 2.0m high, outriggers are required if the height of the platform is more than twice the width of the base.
    For scaffolds over 2.0m high outriggers are required if the height of the platform is more than three times the width of the base
